It is the gift of God, the baby Jesus, whose birth we celebrate. And once you are aware of that you really want to know, why, in 2017 we are celebrating the birth of a man who died in the first century. (In fact, the counting of your calendar begins from his birth notwithstanding an error that occurred and so the calendar is actually four years out.) He never wrote a book. He did not invent anything exceptional. Yet, he changed everything.
He was killed because he did not conform to the norms of the day but insisted on keeping the norms that God has laid down, as explained in the Bible. Unlike any other being in all of time, he rose from the dead and is alive today. This is remarkable, but it gives us hope as it is possible to speak to him and ask his assistance, and also hear his voice in your mind or in your heart and on the very rare occasions, also audibly.
Where would I be today if those wonderful people had not introduced me to him in the Bible? It has changed my life completely and also that of many, many other people that I know.
