There are two ways to handle this. Either shopping all year long to collect items at good prices, or joining the crush in December to try and find something for everyone. Or, maybe, a bit of both. I go for the "all year" option as it enables me to spread the spending and also to get specials when they are available. There is a special "gifts" shelf in the cupboard and that is where everything is kept.
The best way was to take everything out, spread it across the table and divvy out what was suitable for each person / family. I do tend to give family presents, and most of those are consumables. The children are all getting older, and if there is something they don't have, well it is either because they don't want it, or because they can't afford it. If they don't want it, well, no point in me wasting money to buy it, and if they can't afford it, well, I very likely can't either. So, hopefully, during the holidays, they have some extra goodies to consume.
Now getting them all to the people concerned is another hurdle. But I have worked it out. Some are easy, I can walk to deliver them. Others can be delivered when I see them, at church or at other activities during the next week. And I have roped in a family member to take the rest and pass them out to the family members which I will not get to see.
All good. Christmas presents and gifts all organised. What more do you desire a week before Christmas!
